Billing & credits
Everyone starts free with no card. Past what the free tier includes, you buy prepaid credits in fixed amounts — never a surprise invoice, nothing recurring, and your balance can't go negative.
The free tier
Signing up gives you a real Medium box with no card and no plan to choose. It includes:
- Your private box (dedicated server + storage), with auto-sleep when idle.
- 25 active hours a month — hours your box is actually awake. Sleep is free.
- A monthly model allowance worth about two hours of real agent work, smart-routed across our models. The usage bar on settings tracks it.
- Voice in and out, included.
There is no subscription to pick. When you want more than the free allowance, you buy credits — see pricing.
Managed models & overage
With Auto, a judge routes each request to the lightest model that can handle it — that stretches your allowance, since chat costs Gemini-Flash prices instead of Opus prices. You're billed by the model that actually served each request. Past your allowance, overage is billed to credits at these rates per 1M tokens (in / out):

Prompt caching works for you: your agent re-sends its context every turn, and cached input bills at roughly a tenth of the normal input rate. The cached share shows up in your usage numbers.
Compute hours
The free tier includes 25 active hours a month — hours the box is actually awake; sleep doesn't count. Beyond that, extra hours bill to credits at roughly 15 credits/hr ($0.15) for a Medium box. Track it on settings.
Voice
Included voice covers normal use; heavy text-to-speech is metered to credits at $0.40 per 1k spoken characters. Bringing your own ElevenLabs key bypasses metering entirely — usage bills to your ElevenLabs account.
Credits
Credits are the pay-as-you-go balance (1 credit = $0.01) used for LLM, voice and compute overage. Buy them from your dashboard:

Codes
Promo and access codes are not currently available — everyone starts free, so there is nothing to discount. If you hold a live trial from an earlier access code: the trial box is removed when the trial ends (push your work to GitHub first), your account stays, and you can start a free box after.
Legacy subscriptions
If you subscribed before the free tier existed, the Manage billing button on your dashboard opens the Stripe portal — card, invoices, cancel. On cancel your plan runs to the end of the paid period, then the box is shut down and removed; push anything you care about to GitHub first. Your account stays, and you can start a free box after. If a payment fails we retry automatically and email you.
